When your laptop won't connect to WiFi, it limits the methods you can use to access the internet. Although it is a very convenient way of getting online, there are several things that can go wrong when using WiFi. These issues make your connection slow, periodically disrupted, or sometimes the computer just flat out won't connect. My HP computer won't connect to the Internet. Other devices and computers in the home are connected to the internet and working. The connection on the HP shows it's connected. I've rebooted several times but no luck. Wanting to get the router back in play for wireless access, I reinstalled the router (as the internet connection was back) and it is now working and my problem computer internet connection is still in place. I have a 3g hotspot on my phone with unlimmitted internet. When I turn on my phone hotspot my computer says yes its connected and connected just fine. However when I go to open a web browser, firefox or internet explorer or any other application to connect to the internet the applications say not connected. I have windows 7 64 bit.

They say it is a computer problem because the modem light says “online”. However, when I hooked a completely different computer to the modem, it still doesn’t connect.

Oftentimes, a simple reboot will fix simple problems, as it allows the device to reset itself. If restarting doesn’t fix the issue, go to your network preferences to make sure that you’re signing in to the correct network. Plug the other end of your Lightning cable into a USB port on your computer. Open iTunes on your computer. Click on the iPhone icon in the upper left hand corner of iTunes. Click the circle next to "iCloud" or "This computer" to select whether you want to backup your iPhone to iCloud or your computer. Click Back Up Now to backup your iPhone.
